Donations are an important source of funding for the Epilepsy Center. They help support groundbreaking translational and clinical research that could lead to better treatments and, ultimately, to cures for epilepsy and seizure disorders.
The Epilepsy Center holds an annual fundraiser, “Celebrating Research Innovations for an Epilepsy Cure,” in late autumn. The third annual event, in 2009, raised nearly $120,000 while turning Embers restaurant into a party to remember. More than 380 guests gathered for wine, hors d’oeuvres, camaraderie, and a silent auction that featured fine gifts and120 bottles of wine.
Co-chairs were Jon Zipperstein, Susan Muth, and Michael Privitera, MD, Director of the UC Epilepsy Center. Hosts were Pamela and Charles Shor, and Jill Johnston. Matthew Citriglia, a Level IV master sommelier, hosted a “sommelier’s tasting room” that featured many exquisite wines. Major sponsors included the Shors and Fifth Third Bank, and Embers restaurant donated use of the facility and all of the food. Pictured below are Chris and Susan Muth and Dr. Privitera.
