Giving & Donations

Donations are an important source of funding for the Epilepsy Center at the UC Neuroscience Institute. They help support groundbreaking translational and clinical research that could lead to better treatments and, ultimately, to cures for epilepsy and seizure disorders.

The UC Epilepsy Center holds a fundraiser, “Research Innovations for an Epilepsy Cure,” in late autumn. The fourth annual event drew 500 guests to the glittering Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati on Oct. 17, 2010. The indoor showroom, emptied of vehicles for the occasion, featured a dual silent auction, with gifts on the first floor and fine wines above – including a 1982 Chateau Mouton Rothschild that sold for $970. The event benefits research at the UC Epilepsy Center.

Presenting sponsor was the Pamela and Charles L. Shor Foundation for Epilepsy Research. Diamond sponsors were Fifth Third Bank, Romiley and Thayer Jack, J.P. Morgan and the Shanahan Family. Special guest was Hollywood screenwriter and vintner Robert Kamen. The organizing committee, pictured above in photo by Mark Bowen, comprised Sally Lutz, Anne Shanahan, Pamela and Charles Shor, Michael Privitera, MD, Susan Muth, Jameson Muth, Mendy Shaw, Jill Johnston and Jon Zipperstein.
 
Funds raised by the event will support research into medical and surgical treatments, brain imaging, and the link between emotional stress and epilepsy.
