About Us

The Epilepsy Center at the UC Neuroscience Institute provides comprehensive evaluation of high volumes of patients who have, or are thought to have, epilepsy. We are the Cincinnati region's only center with a Level IV rating – the highest rating possible -- from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). The NAEC defines Level IV centers as those that "have the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest level medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex epilepsy."

We offer a New-Onset Seizure Clinic, providing rapid consultation to patients who have experienced a recent seizure or seizure-like episode, and we offer a specialized clinic to U.S. veterans with epilepsy.

We use 24-hour video recordings and EEG monitoring in our seven-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, the only one of its kind in Southwest Ohio, to screen patients who experience persistent seizures. Our skilled imaging specialists employ a high-field, 4-Tesla magnet for functional MRI to precisely locate language, motor and memory functions. And our neurosurgical specialists enjoy a proud history of excellence in performing epilepsy surgery procedures.

Once a patient has been diagnosed and a treatment plan has begun, the UC Neuroscience Institute provides exceptional followup care to patients with epilepsy and to their families.
