CINCINNATI--David Ficker, MD, Associate Professor of Neurology and Assistant Director of the Epilepsy Center at the UC Neuroscience Institute, has been selected for membership to the Epilepsy Foundation's Professional Advisory Board, effective with the board meeting in December.
The board, which comprises about 50 epilepsy experts and internationally recognized leaders in the field, advises the foundation on medical issues that affect people with epilepsy. The board also provides professional peer review for the more than $1 million in research grants the foundation funds each year.

The UC Neuroscience Institute, a regional center of excellence, is dedicated to patient care, research, education, and the development of new treatments for stroke, brain and spinal tumors, epilepsy, traumatic brain and spinal injury, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, disorders of the senses (swallowing, voice, hearing, pain, taste and smell), and psychiatric conditions (bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and depression).
